Description
The fairies are considered to be very dangerous. They live underground close to the places where they dance. They are dressed in white and look just like small girls. Late at nights and early mornings they can be seen dancing in the mists, above the meadows, hills and moors. When they dance on the grass, a circle appears called a fairy ring. Their dance is called the fairy game and you shall never participate in that game. If the fairies get angry, which they get very easily, they can put all kind of diseases on you.
Certain stones with small and big holes in them are called fairy stones. If you put fat and a coin a two into the holes, the fairies will take the money and remove the diseases they have caused.
Story
Already during The Middle Ages people were very afraid of the fairy game. A young man called Olof, who was a riding soldier, lived in a croft called Marhult at Huseby. The morning before he was getting married, he rode out on his horse at dawn. Suddenly he saw the fairies dancing on a hill. The queen of the fairies caught sight of him, held out her hand and beckoned him to come. Olof refused to take her hand, knowing it could be dangerous. The queen became furious and she told him that something very serious was going to happen. Olof turns his horse around and rides in spur towards home. Just after his return he becomes severely ill and falls off the horse. He was carried into the croft but before sunset he was dead. The wedding, well that just became a memory.
