The Animals at Huseby

Down in the kitchen garden you will find the Stephens’s dog house, where in the past, pugs and other small furry dogs of different breeds used to run around. Nowadays it’s the peacock and hens that strut around in the nice little yellow octagonal house. The gang now living in the old dog’s house include:

The Castle

In the Castle, where the Stephens girls played a hundred years ago and where Ironmaster Stephens received King Oscar II, time has stood still. Here, one can still hear the rustling of the women’s skirts, the chambermaids’ brisk steps across floors, and the dogs padding over the beautiful carpets. The smell of cigars and pipes still lingers in the men’s writing room.

Park & Garden

The landmarked park in front of Huseby’s beautiful manor is built in a German style, which was the highest fashion two hundred years ago. Each year, agaves, plants which have a long history at the estate, are planted in the symmetrical flower beds.

Museums & Buildings

Come and discover the joy that the gardens bring, the joy of food and handicraft – the joy of life at Huseby Bruk! In recent years, the ironworks has been transformed from being a disused ironworks into a modern trading and handicraft place for visitors from all over the world.

Conferences & Meetings

A conference in the old blast furnace, a meeting in the Castle, or a day for planning in the beautiful setting at Huseby Bruk. We have several different rooms for smaller and larger meetings. For smaller groups we can recommend an exclusive conference in Huseby Castle.

Ms. Florence Stephens

Joseph expands and invests in his estate carefully but thoroughly and runs Huseby Bruk up until his death in 1934. At the time, two of his daughters were unmarried and one was divorced, and because none of them were trained to take over such a large property, they were highly dependent on trustees and other people in their service. Ms. Florence inherited Huseby with nearby farms, Torne and Lästad went to Mary, and Maggie got Ålshult.
