The Forgotten Forest

Welcome to the Forgotten Forest at Huseby Bruk!

The Forgotten Forest is a nature-based experience area located at Huseby Bruk. It is designed to give visitors a deeper understanding of the region’s biodiversity while highlighting stories and folklore from Småland’s cultural heritage. Here, nature and myth meet in a quiet yet rich experience suitable for both children and adults.

The entrance to the area is located behind the Saw Mill, near the paddock. From there, visitors can choose between two paths.

Accessibility and Trails

Joseph’s Boardwalk
A wider boardwalk adapted for accessibility, making it suitable for strollers, wheelchairs, and visitors with reduced mobility.

Florence Nature Trail
A narrower boardwalk that winds along the water’s edge.

Both trails are approximately 1.3 km in total and lead into the Forgotten Forest. Along the way, you’ll find fascinating insights into the trees, plants, and species that live here.

The Folklore Trail

A unique aspect of the Forgotten Forest is its connection to Småland folklore. Along the Folklore Trail, you’ll encounter figures and stories about various beings said to inhabit the forest according to tradition. Among them are the forest nymph (Skogsrå), the water horse (Bäckahästen), and other mythical characters deeply rooted in local storytelling.

These tales are designed to spark curiosity and imagination, serving as a bridge between nature and cultural heritage. We encourage you to try to find all the beings and listen to their stories at the audio stations.

Things to Keep in Mind When Visiting Nature

The Forgotten Forest is open to the public and suitable for both spontaneous visits and planned outings. There are seating areas and rest spots along the trails. Please note that in wet or icy conditions, use of the boardwalks and paths is at your own risk. Walking shoes are recommended. Always respect and care for nature. Take your trash with you!
